CHELSEA TO FACE LIVERPOOL IN FINAL

European champions Chelsea will face Liverpool in the FA Cup final after they saw off London rivals Crystal Palace in their semifinal clash on Sunday evening. Chelsea were able to book their place in the FA Cup final thanks to the 2-0 win over the Eagles with the two goals coming in the second half.

Chelsea were favourites ahead of the London Derby FA Cup semifinal clash played at the Wembley Stadium and they lived up to that status thanks to the second half goals from the Academy graduate duo of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount. Ahead of the game, Chelsea turned down the request to let Conor Gallagher feature as he’s on a season-long loan at Crystal Palace from the Blues. CHELSEA TO FACE PALACE IN SEMIS

European champions Chelsea have been given a London Derby challenge in the FA Cup semifinals after the draw was held on Sunday evening. The Blues were handed a tie against London rivals Crystal Palace during the draw with the Premier League’s top two namely Manchester City and Liverpool facing off in the other tie. Both ties will take place at the Wembley Stadium next month.


Chelsea sealed their place in the final four of the FA Cup this season after seeing off English Championship outfit Middlesbrough who have been responsible for the exit of some big teams from the competition. JOTA STARS AGAINST ARSENAL ONCE AGAIN

Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota has been a thorn in the flesh of Arsenal over the course of the last two seasons. As a matter of fact, Jota has been a menace against the Gunners since he became a Liverpool player at the start of last season. The Portugal national team star left fellow Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Liverpool in a £41m deal that could rise to £45m based on add-ons.

Jota made his Liverpool debut against Arsenal in the Premier League at the start of last season and he was able to celebrate it with a goal. He came on as a second half substitute to score the third goal for the hosts and seal the three points for his team via a 3-1 scoreline.In the return leg, Jota was also a substitute. The Portuguese international came on in the second half and he went on to score a brace thereby propelling his team to a 3-0 away  win over Arsenal.

LUKAKU BACK IN CHELSEA TRAINING

Premier League leaders Chelsea have been handed a major fitness boost with star striker Romelu Lukaku back in training in time for the resumption of club football on the European scene later this week.

Belgian all-time leading goalscorer Lukaku has been in the treatment room for weeks and his presence on the Chelsea training pitch would have delighted their fans ahead of a difficult run of games in the next two weeks.

KANTE, JORGINHO DESERVE BALLON D’OR AWARD

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has drummed up support for compatriot N’GoloKante and Jorginho as the race to win the BallonD’or Award for this season hots up. Frenchman Evra talked about the possibility of the two Chelsea players winning the award for the best player in the world in a chat with the Daily Mail as he confessed that he’s tired of Messi winning the award.


Evra is not certain that Messi has done enough to win the BallonD’or Award after failing to win the Champions League and the La Liga titles at Barcelona last season though he acknowledged his Copa America tournament win with the Argentine national team. ENGLAND: LINGARD EARNS SOUTHGATE PRAISE

England manager Gareth Southgate was impressed with Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard after his impressive display propelled the team to a convincing win over Andorra at home at the weekend. The Manchester United attacker was easily the best player on the pitch as he scored a brace to lead England to a 4-0 win over Andorra when the two teams met in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Lingard has struggled for match action at Manchester United after three Premier League games this season but it didn’t show in his display against lowly Andorra. The ex-West Ham United loanee has been snubbed by Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as far as the starting XI for the three games played in the league this season is concerned. This is despite being the star for Manchester United during preseason upon his return from West Ham United.
