HAKIMI SET FOR PSG SWITCH

Moroccan international AchraafHakimi is closing in on the transfer to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the French Ligue 1 according to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano. PSG are said to have done enough to see off Chelsea and other interested parties in the race to sign Hakimi who’s on the verge of leaving Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan after a solitary season.

Inter Milan snapped up Hakimi from Real Madrid in a €40m deal after his hugely successful loan spell at German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund ended. He was a key part of the Inter team that won the league title in the Italian top flight last season. Hakimi was one of the first names on the team sheet for Conte at Inter Milan last season as she flourished as a wing back under the Italian tactician. The Nerazzuri had not won the league title for over a decade until Conte masterminded it last season.

Conte kicked against the potential sale of key players like Hakimi and that led to his exit from Inter Milan earlier this summer with one year left on his contract with the club. The two parties reached an agreement for his contract to be terminated and the club has since replaced him with Simone Inzaghi who left capital club to take over the managerial job at the San Siro. Lazio have named ex-Empoli, Napoli and Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri as the replacement for Inzaghi.

For Hakimi, the initial asking price from Inter Milan for the player was €80m with PSG and Chelsea keen on the player but PSG have managed to reduce it to €70m including add-ons, while West London giants Chelsea made contact with his agent but didn’t firm up their interest in him with a big offer like what was obtainable with French giants PSG.
