Abraham was a regular while Frank Lampard was at the club for 18 months but things have changed dramatically for the worse for him under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Nigerian-born England international was sent on loan Aston Villa during the 2018/19 campaign and he helped to score a lot of the goals that took the midlands club back into the Premier League via the English Championship playoffs. He became the first choice striker at Chelsea under Lampard upon his return to the club at the end of his Villa loan spell.

He was a first team regular at Chelsea until the arrival of Tuchel. Since the German tactician became the new Blues boss in January, Abraham has hardly played thus leading to rumours that he might leave the club in the summer. The Hammers and Leicester City are two clubs keen on signing him.

According to The Athletic, West Ham United will target Abraham on loan if they are not able to meet his £40m valuation.

Abraham has had to watch the German duo of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner lead the line at Chelsea under Tuchel since January. Werner led the line for the Blues at the weekend in their Premier League clash at Manchester City.

A win would have given City the league title but they were not able to secure it thanks to the two second half goals from the Chelsea duo of Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso. Raheem Sterling was the City skipper for the day and he gave his team the lead in the first half but they could not hold on for the win. The Blues were able to secure the win needed to boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League via the league route.
