ZOUMA SET FOR NEW CHELSEA CONTRACT

 

Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to reward French defender Kurt Zouma with the offer of a new contract following his impressive start to the new season. Kurt Zouma has been one of the standout defenders in the opening weeks of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.


The news of the contract offer from Chelsea to Kurt Zouma was revealed by renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via his podcast earlier on Wednesday.

Former Saint Etienne centre back Zouma has been a regular part of the Chelseadefence since he returned from a successful loan spell at fellow English team Everton last summer. He signed for Chelsea from French Ligue 1 club Saint Etienne in 2014 before he was sent back on loan to the same team. The 26-year-old had come through the youth teams at Saint Etienne before he made his debut for the first team in 2011. In addition to Saint Etienne, Chelsea have sent Zouma on loan to Stoke City and Everton as previously mentioned.

Kurt Zouma has been the only constant in the Chelsea defencein the Premier League this season. He has featured in all the eight league games, netting twice in the process. The Frenchman was on target on the opening weekend of this season’s Premier League campaign after he scored one of the goals to secure a 3-1 win over home team Brighton and Hove Albion.

His second goal of the season was also on the road. Zouma was amongst the goalscorers as Chelsea thrashed hosts Burnley 3-0 in what was a week 7 encounter. New signings Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner got the other goals for the Blues.

Buoyed by the form of Kurt Zouma, Chelsea are in the top five on the current Premier League standings with 15 points from the first eight matches.
