Eden Hazard insists Chelsea are only aiming for the top four

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has indicated that the Blues are only chasing for a top four finish to the Premier League and they are far off from competing with Manchester City for the title. The Blues made a quick start off the blocks which saw them equal on points with the Citizens at one stage but they have since dropped off with a seven-point deficit to the league leaders.

Speaking to Standard Sport, Hazard suggested that the club’s prime focus remains on achieving Champions League football for the next campaign with the Citizens pretty much the favourites to reclaim their title this term, he said: “We are thinking about finishing in the top four, not to be the champions. We know City are not much better than Chelsea but they are better at the moment.

“In what areas are City better? A lot of things: possession; when they have chances, they score; maybe defensively they are better. They have top players. ‘Is it due to their consistency as well, winning game after game? Yes, of course. They are in a good momentum since last year and we need to be back like this.”

Meanwhile, Hazard’s future has been a regular discussion topic over the past few months and the Belgian has added more speculation to the same by suggesting that he could leave the Blues when the season concludes. However, he has also refused to rule out the prospect of seeing out the remainder of his career with the Blues and the club’s supporters are sure to be left unsettled by the player’s situation next summer.

Chelsea suffered a rather embarrassing 3-1 Premier League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. They are now occupying the fourth position on the table with just a one-point advantage over cross-town rivals Arsenal.
