Eden Hazard insists Chelsea are only aiming for the top four

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has indicated that the Blues are only chasing for a top four finish to the Premier League and they are far off from competing with Manchester City for the title. The Blues made a quick start off the blocks which saw them equal on points with the Citizens at one stage but they have since dropped off with a seven-point deficit to the league leaders.

Speaking to Standard Sport, Hazard suggested that the club’s prime focus remains on achieving Champions League football for the next campaign with the Citizens pretty much the favourites to reclaim their title this term, he said: “We are thinking about finishing in the top four, not to be the champions. We know City are not much better than Chelsea but they are better at the moment.

Chelsea players are enjoying their game under Maurizio Sarri – Eden Hazard

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has highlighted that the team are enjoying their football under the guidance of new manager Maurizio Sarri. The Blues witnessed yet another change in management this summer with Sarri took over the reins from Antonio Conte and he has since got the side clicking with an unbeaten start to the campaign.

As a result, Sarri has been widely praised by the supporters and pundits alike and Hazard has now shared his opinion on the manager’s impact, he told Sky Sports News: “I think this kind of manager is good when you like football. We try to keep the ball, we try to find solutions. We have good players and we’ve brought in new players like Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic – players where you need movement. We are all happy on the pitch. We just need to keep playing like we are. We are full of confidence at the moment. Liverpool is the kind of game where you want to shine and we will, I hope.”

The Blues had picked up victories from their first six matches across all competitions but the run ceased over the weekend after they were held to a goalless stalemate against West Ham United. With the outcome, the Blues have dropped to third on the table behind both Liverpool and Manchester City with the former presently leading the Premier League standings with a two-point advantage over the rest.

Meanwhile, on a personal scale, Hazard has enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign and he has already contributed five goals and two assists in the Premier League. At one point, Hazard had registered a goal or an assist in every league game this term but that was bound to end at some stage and it happened during the 0-0 draw at the London Stadium.
