Cesc Fabregas to miss matches due to Injury

Chelsea boss José Mourinho has confirmed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas is likely to miss the upcoming international matches due to a hamstring injury. He says that the Spaniard, who played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool on Sunday, has been suffering with this injury for the last few days, but he decided to take a gamble with the player. Fabregas joined Chelsea for less than £ 30 million in the summer, but he has been one of the best players in the Premier League by a significant distance. He leads the way in terms of chances created for his teammates, while he has also assisted nine clear goals.

Mourinho has already been in confrontation with Spain’s FA over selecting players who he feels that are not in the best shape. Diego Costa were subjected to intense debate over the last few weeks after he was called up by Vicente del Bosque despite concerns from Mourinho. Costa missed four matches after the international break before recently returning to the team. He has been left out of the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers. He scored the vital win against Liverpool on Sunday. The Spain FA, though, are not ready to take chances with Fabregas. They have said that Fabregas will be undergoing tests before deciding on his participation.

“We will assess him in the coming hours to see if he can form part of the squad. We know Cesc, I’ve known him since he was 16 years old, I know his professionalism and commitment to the national team, but we are still waiting to assess him,” said Spain’s Doctor, Oscar Celada.” The most prudent thing is that he sees the Spanish national team medical staff. It’s not a lack of confidence in the medical staff at his club, but after playing 95 minutes this weekend we would like to see him and examine him,” said Vicente del Bosque.
